How does ultrasound work?
A handheld probe sends harmless sound waves into the area being scanned. The waves bounce back at different speeds depending on the tissue they hit, creating a live image on the screen that the clinician interprets. A typical scan takes 10–20 minutes and needs virtually no preparation (abdominal scans are done fasting).
Ultrasound examinations we offer
| Examination | What we assess |

| Lymph‑node ultrasound (neck, axilla, groin) | enlargement, inflammation, malignancy |
| Testicular ultrasound | lumps, varicoceles, torsion, hydroceles |
| Neck soft‑tissue & carotid scan | salivary glands, carotid vessels, post‑traumatic changes |

What can ultrasound detect?
- Benign and malignant lumps
- Cysts, haematomas, abscesses
- Kidney stones or urinary obstruction
- Organ enlargement and inflammation
- Blood‑flow problems (Doppler mode)
- Congenital anomalies and post‑traumatic complications
For many conditions ultrasound is the first‑line test – quick, affordable and available on the spot.
Why is ultrasound safe?
- Uses sound waves, not ionising radiation
- Non‑invasive – no needles or contrast agents in routine scans
- Suitable for children, pregnant patients and the elderly
- Can be repeated as often as treatment or monitoring requires
Is preventive screening worthwhile?
Absolutely. Regular ultrasound can spot cancers and other diseases at an early stage, when treatment is most effective. It is also invaluable for monitoring chronic thyroid, urinary or vascular conditions.
What happens during the visit?
- Brief history‑taking – symptoms, previous results, medication
- The scan – warm gel on the skin, probe moved over the area while the image appears in real time
- Immediate report & recommendations – you leave with a printed English report and clear next steps
